I did it. I got a dog. I don't really know what I was thinking, but I had to make a pre-emptive strike on my husband. He has always wanted a dog, but lived in rentals or apartments so he could never have one. He always said that he wanted a dog as soon as we got a house. However, his idea of a dog is a great Dane. I am sorry, but that is way too much dog for me. When I heard that my mom's neighbor Stephanie's dogs had puppies I thought to myself: why not have a look and see what you think. I was hooked from the moment I saw him. You would think that looking at a group of 13 puppies it would be hard to figure out which one to get, and it kind of was but then I saw him and kept letting my mind wander back to him. So, what did I do, I acted and bought. I did "ask" my husband first. He tried to say no because he wants a great Dane more than he would want a lab, but I had an answer for every question. My favorite question was: "If you get him right now while I am gone, will he even respect me as master?" I laughed at that one. Then he gave in out of his love for me, or was it because I threatened to let Nagorka, his bearded dragon, meet an untimely end... No, I would never threaten that! I just am a very persuasive person I guess. So, our little family has grown and I will be spending the next few week training a puppy. My dad says if I can't be bringing home a baby right now, this will be the next best thing. My dad is awesome. My mom however has a million reasons why no one should ever have a dog. I know the truth though, I saw her eyes looking longingly at my puppy. I know that she secretly wishes he were hers! Of course all of my siblings are so excited and are already arguing over who gets to help me with him. Special thank you to Chloe for helping me with his name: Reese, like a reese's peanut butter cup, or reese's pieces. I love it!
P.S. special side note: Andrew found out today that he will be leaving in 30 days so my countdown has begun! I cannot wait!

I *heart* black labs! They are the cutest most loveable dogs around! Congratulations :)
I fell in love with our black lab when he was a puppy. Now that he's two ... I am ready to trade him in. Good luck. He's adorable!
My girls are soooo jealous! They ran home and asked for my checkbook so they could go buy one too. He's really cute, maybe we'll be ready for one from the next litter. My dog's name growing up was Hershey:) And your mom did threaten me that she would never come to my house again or allow the girls to come over if I got a dog. I should've just been a rebel like you:)
Cute name! Reese I love it. And I love puppy stage, I love how cuddly they are and how they grow up to gaurd you and never talk back! Merry Christmas!
He looks chocolate in the picture. I love Chocolate lab puppies! We've had a couple - they really like to chew stuff up and dig. Good luck and funny comment from your dad!
SO FUN! Good luck with the puppy training, sounds like you have help! So excited that your hubby will be home soon. That is a great Christmas present.
First, congrats on Andrew coming home in 30 days!! Yay!! And second, if you wanted a dog, you could have mine. ;) Good luck with the training -- there is a reason Heavenly Father made them so cute when they are little...
Awww, what a cute puppy! We *almost* got one this Christmas but decided against it considering we are trying to sell our house and all! Didn't think that would be a good idea right now. Labs are the best, I had one growing up and he was the best doggy ever. I have always wanted a brown one, I love that deep rich color they are. Good luck with him!
And how fantastic that your countdown has begun! I'm so excited for you! You should put a ticker on your blog :)
Happy New Year!!!
That was not a longing look - it was "you better not pee on my carpet" look !:)
