A day late...

Of course I am! What else would you expect? So, I don't know if this is technically my first mother's day or not. A) I was a step-mother last year too and B) I haven't actually had the baby yet... However, I have to admit that this year it felt like the first mother's day. I think I felt that way because I actually received some mother's day gifts.
I wish I could say that my day started with breakfast in bed and all that jazz, but since my family thinks 6 am is what time you should get up they knew I would not have been too happy with the breakfast! I got a better gift, my husband kept the boys quiet so I could sleep a little longer :) What love! A few days ago I came home from work and there were some flowers on the counter. Andrew said that Adrian picked them out for me at the store. Adrian said they were for mother's day, but he wanted me to have them that day in case I didn't feel good. (Such a sweetie!) I gave him lots of hugs and he said "I only wish I could give you flowers on mother's day too." I told him I could wake up that morning and pretend they were new flowers and give him hugs again. He seemed pretty excited about additional hugs and so he agreed this would work. True to my word on Sunday when I emerged from my haven of sleep I acted surprised about the flowers and gave Adrian a big fat hug. I heard him whisper to his dad later "I got double hugs from Toshia today, what did you get?" It was so cute!
Adrian's class made cook books for mother's day this year. My favorite part is on the inside cover: the kids all filled in the blanks on a page about their moms.
My mother loves me best when I help her.
My mother looks most beautiful when she wears a skirt.
I like being with my mother most when she makes cookies.
My favorite thing about my mother is that she makes cookies.
My mother is a good cook when she makes brownies.
If I could give my mother something special just from me, it would be paper with designs on it.
Isn't that adorable? I love that he thinks I am beautiful in a skirt :) And the fact that he makes it sound like I am a cookie making machine! I have to admit I cannot remember the last time I actually made cookies. I wonder if this was a subtle hint that he would like me to? Hehe, what a smart kid! After church we went to my parent's house for dinner. Chelsea's boyfriend Danno gave me a potted plant, so sweet--I hope I don't kill it! And Ashleigh and Chelsea gave me some flowers and a subscription to a pregnancy magazine. My dad made the comment "boy, you look awfully pregnant!" I took it as a compliment although I am still a little bummed that it seems like none of my non-maternity clothes fit me anymore! Oh well, there will be another time for that.
Keep an eye out for baby updates later this week... my 16 week appointment is this Wednesday. I can hardly believe that I am 4 months pregnant already. And then at other moments I wonder if I can handle another 24 weeks, especially if it is supposed to be 95 degrees on Friday~ this could be a very long spring/summer/fall!

Sometimes I feel like I can't believe how fast it goes but I never dare say that to the one going through it. But it is crazy you almost half way!

I don't envy you being pregnant during the heat of the summer...UGH! You can come sit in my kiddie pool any time you feel overheated!

Happy Mother's Day, my sweet pregnant friend!
