I could not believe how beautiful it was today! We didn't have any plans other than to watch conference so we got to enjoy the beauty of the day together. Andrew had to work today so he missed out, but we had a blast. We started off the morning with a delicious breakfast of eggs, hash browns, and blueberry muffins. We watched the first session of conference at home. Although I couldn't take notes because my arms were full I had such sweet impressions from the Spirit throughout. I was especially moved by the talk this morning about teaching reverence in our homes and practicing reverence. I can't wait to watch/read the talks again so I can get more out of it! Since the boys were relatively good for the first session I made a picnic lunch and we went over to the playground at a nearby grade school so the boys could run their hearts out. There were some interesting tweeners hanging out there...I was a little shocked at the things I heard these girls saying...does that make me really old? Anyways, it was so nice to be out in the sunshine! Jonathan kept reaching for the grass and wanting to eat it. I only had my phone with me so I took a pic with that, but apparently forgot to save it:( We headed home after that to watch the second session and it was a little harder to get the boys to "focus" the second time around! After that was over they did a couple quick chores and then were off to play outside. They started out in long sleeve shirts and pants and ended the day in shorts and short sleeved tees. Highlights from today:
1) getting to put the dog outside all day and not have him under my feet the whole time.
2) turning off the heat!
3) opening the windows to air out the house.
4) feeding Jonathan cheerios--and pretty much anything else he can get his hands on! I can't walk by the fruit bowl without him reaching for bananas and "yelling" for one. So cute:)
5) Getting the plates for the van on.
6) when Adrian came in the house with his face completely darkened with dirt. This was the conversation I had with him about it:
Me: What is all over your face?
A: Dirt.
Me: Why is there dirt all over your face?
A: We were just playing a little game.
Me: What game were you playing that you needed to put dirt on your face?
A: We were just pretending to be poor boys. What? We didn't get the dirt off the ground. We wiped it off the side of the van.
I had to turn my head to hide the laughter. I still don't understand the need to pretend to be "poor boys" and I can't quite follow the logic that somehow the dirt off the van was better to use than if it had been taken from the ground?! The van looks pretty ghetto now with all the hand prints, but oh well...all in the name of good "clean" fun eh?
