With the late church slot and a temporary move to another building location due to construction, we don't have church until 2pm. Ugh, not my favorite. The hardest part is getting the kids ready and keeping them ready! A few weeks ago we had some issues getting to church on time due to the older boys not getting themselves ready when they were told the first billion times. The result was that they had to get totally ready and then sit on the couch for an hour before church today. I know, I am so mean. But, guess who was to church on time? That's right, we were. When I came out in the living room I couldn't help but think how lucky I am to have these precious kiddos in my life and aren't they adorable?
Also, Andrew gets to go to church with us again! He is officially a full-time student and no longer "working" on Sundays. It is nice, but I will have to get used to having him there and let him help me;)
Not sure why I am about to blog this, but I am having some issues around it and I need to get it out. You know how sometimes you have those dreams--well, more like nightmares--where you are partially dressed (if at all) and you are desperately trying to find clothes or something to cover yourself? I know I've had those dreams and they are not pleasant. Nothing that drastic happened, but I did experience a wardrobe malfunction today. I am going to blame certain articles of underclothes being too big (and me being too cheap to buy new ones yet) and dragging a 2 year to the bathroom while carrying a poopy baby out as well as clutching a diaper bag. But, today as I was walking out of the chapel in the middle of sacrament meeting a woman signaled to me that I needed to pull my dress down...I did and she hissed "no, the back" as she was shaking her head in dismay. I was mortified and hurried out. I made it to the bathroom and discovered what was hanging out. I made the necessary adjustments and took care of the kids, but then I debated on ever being able to show my face again! I talked myself through it and decided to just act like nothing happened. My husband just teased me and I still felt like I was going to be the topic of conversation later that day. I could just hear it, "did you see Sis. Stott today at church? I mean, really!" But, I know that God loves us and knows what we need to hear. Thank you to those of you out there who listen and become the tools that deliver His tender mercies.
After church I was getting Reagan in the carseat and a sweet sister whom I have served with in a few of the organizations came up to me and said "Toshia, I just wanted to let you know that I was watching you from across the chapel today and...." (Oh great, here it comes, I thought. She is going to tell me off for what happened....) "I just think that you look so elegant in black. You look really nice today." I quickly replied thank you and thought to myself "what????" As I walked out to the car I realized, she probably did see the malfunction. And she is also the type of person that would just know how devastated I was over it and would know just what to say to help me feel better. Or, maybe she didn't and maybe it was just God intervening to help me. Either way, I will forever be grateful for yet another tender mercy! Thank you so much dear friend, I only hope to follow your example and work to lift others up and not tear them down:)

I love the whole story of getting ready an hour early for church! You are awesome! (My two youngest can get ready in 20-30 minutes. My oldest?? It doesn't matter how long he has--1 hour, 2 hours--he will STILL be trying to find socks or shoes 5 minutes after we were supposed to have left! So I love your phrase "told the first billion times.")
Thank you for sharing that sweet "tender mercy" experience too. And hooray for sweet people who play a part in them. Wonderful!!
for the longest time we were late not because I have myself and 3 lil divas to get ready, but for my Darling Hubby lol needless to say this year ONTIME so FAR =)
