Is this a question you hear all day? I decided to remedy it with a dry erase pen. I write "clean" on the dishwasher when I start it so that everyone will know. This also makes it so Adrian knows it is in need of being emptied;) Jonathan likes to "help" out with the dishes, too. Here he is adding a lil' something to a once clean surface. He cracks me up!

That's a great idea. My kids are much lazier. When we ask them to put their dinner dishes in the dishwasher, they just SAY, "It's clean," or "it has to be emptied," without actually checking that statement for truth. gr
