Mother's Day 2011

We celebrated Mother's day a week early around these parts. Andrew wanted all the boys to be together to "honor" me so it just worked out better to do it that way. I got a set of new pots/pans! For this mom, the best part was the notes from my boys though.

Dear Mom,
You are the best mom ever!! You love us a lot. I love you so much!! You are nice and you always know what's best. When I come back from school I always hope to see you.
Love,
Adrian
(Best part: I always know what's best. And don't you forget it!)

Dear Mother,
You are a fantastic mom! You always know what to do. You're so awesome that I'm always looking forward to come see you on the weekends.
Love,
Luke
(Again, I am one smart cookie! I wonder if my boys will still think this in about 5 years, hmm....)

I am so grateful that I am a mother. I am thankful that I have a husband who supports my desire to be home with my children. Although there is something fulfilling about leaving the house to do something I love, there is nothing like being home with my children! I hope that all of my friends and fellow mom's that have the privilege of being with their children can have the blessing of feeling the same way. I am so grateful to my mother and the sacrifices she made for us. I am ashamed to admit that I was not always grateful. In fact, as a stinky teenager I am pretty sure that I criticized her (to her face) for not finishing college and having a career. What was I thinking?! It is not a job that gets very much support from the "world," but, in my opinion it is the most important job there is. Thank you to all the mothers out there who take their role and responsibility as mothers seriously:)

With my help Jonathan made this "sundae" for my mom for mother's day. We had so much fun putting it together and it was super easy. In fact, I made them with my activity day girls for their moms. (I totally stole the idea from here.)
The cup is from McDonald's: free (smile real sweet and although they might think you are crazy, you'll get what you want!)
Bath salts in a baggie: cheap
Shower poofa: 2/$1 @ Dollar Tree
Straw: negligible cost
Tag: free for me (already had the stuff)
Happy momma/grandma: priceless!

I love the notes. I love Andrew's idea to celebrate a week early to have everyone there, too. That "sundae" idea is so dang cute!!! I absolutely love it.
