And the award goes too...

Adrian!!!

When I got a letter in the mail informing us about the upcoming awards assembly we were so excited for Adrian!  He has had a few rocky patches this year and in years past has struggled a lot with school.  I hate to admit it, but I thought for sure the award would be for something other than academics.  Not because he isn't smart, but because he doesn't have a great track record for getting the work done and turned in;)

At Adrian's school he is on a team that has two teachers.  Mrs. C got up and gave her awards and we still didn't know what Adrian's award would be.  Several teachers later his homeroom teacher, Mr. R, got up.  When he started to read off about the student for the award I thought, oh, not Adrian again.  This is what he said:
This student always enters my class with a positive attitude and a smile.  He is consistently on task and truly enjoys being in Math.  He believes in following all the school rules, does his best on assignments and was one of three students last week that excelled on a math test.  This month's white team math award goes to Adrian!

[Insert my stunned face here...]
I still am a little shell shocked that this was how he described Adrian.  I have never had a teacher of Adrian's ever describe him this way.  WAY TO GO ADRIAN!!!!!  I am still giddy over it.  Something is clicking and he is finally getting it;)

(I should say that I did know he had received 100% on his math test the week before, but he failed to mention to me until after this how big a deal it really was.  His goal is to have a quarter of all a's by the end of the year.  I think he'll do it, too!)
