Yes. My boys had their toenails painted. And guess what? They are just fine.
This activity was one that Adrian was a little apprehensive about. Jonathan at first was not about to let it happen. He told my mom "She can't paint my toy nails! I will run away from her so fast that she cannot catch me!!" Something changed his mind later and for days he was asking when we were going to paint his "toy nails." Reagan loved to show off her pretties, Jonathan was adamant that he only have green since that is his favorite color, and Adrian only asked for me to remove it two days ago. (He was very careful to keep socks on whenever he was around anybody else though!) So much fun:)
Day 17: Dress up for dinner.
This was one that my kids were actually looking forward to. So was I. Then life happened....we got home from an extended family Christmas party later than planned and dinner was rushed. Before I knew it we were eating when I remembered it was supposed to be "fancy!" So I whipped out the candlesticks and turned off the lights. I think the fact that there were now candles to be blown out made them quickly forget that we had cheated a little on this one;) Thank you Taylor for joining us! (And for babysitting afterwards!!)
Day 18: Have a campout around the tree.
There was much excitement about sleeping under the Christmas tree at this house! We started the night off by beginning our Harry Potter marathon (one movie every night) and breaking out the can of popcorn. Reagan didn't make it past 7:45 and slept in her own bed. The boys wouldn't go to sleep. When the movie was over and it was nearing 11:00 at night I finally had to threaten them with sleeping in their own beds if they weren't asleep in 10 minutes. They were out in less than 5. Sleep tight my little monkeys.
Day 19: Go caroling.
[Insert picture here....oops! Forgot to get one.]
The original plan was to go caroling with a couple other families. Then with some last minute changes we ended up just having the Durants over to sing carols/Christmas songs at our house. Jonathan had a melt down at one point because he wanted us to sing Jingle Bells over and over again. I love that boy, but sometimes he has the strangest fascinations/obsessions! After he calmed down we watched a couple of the fabulous videos made by the LDS church about Christ's life. We finished the night off with singing Silent Night and the spirit was so sweet.
Day 20: Do a snow dance.
Taylor joined us for this one, too! We all put our pjs on backwards, got some obnoxious noise making instruments out, turned on this snow dance video from you tube, and danced our hearts away. I have it recorded, but I did promise a couple of pre-teens that no one would ever see it....at least not yet!
