A trip to the dentist

I so intended to take a picture of Jonathan at his first dental appointment.  I even had the camera in my bag!  Oh well.

Tuesday after Christmas I took all 3 of the boys to the dentist.  I love working at the best dental office ever and having some pretty amazing people take care of my family when I bring them in.  I've been prepping Jonathan (pretty much since birth) for his first dental appointment.  I have worked with enough phobic patients to know that those first few appointments are critical.  For weeks Jonathan was so excited that he was going to get a turn to have his teeth counted by the doctor.  The morning of was a totally different story!
The whole way driving to the office Jonathan was yelling at me some variations of: "I don't like you!  I'm not going to the doctor!  Drive me home right now!  I won't do it!"  I was a teensy bit concerned that this was going to be a rough morning!  Once we got there though he was just fine.  I went back to the room with him and showed him around again.  He was so excited to ride on the moving chair.  One of the best dental assistants ever, Lindsay, polished his teeth up with some berry paste and he was perfectly still.  I wish he would open his mouth that wide at home when I brush for him!  After his teeth were polished I hopped in and checked his teeth out, did a little scaling and he had his exam with the doctor and he's cavity free!
Luke was awesome.  He had some serious dental phobias a few years ago, but with a lot of patience and matching him up with the right dental team he is pretty much over it completely.  We got all his treatment finished up finally last spring and so I was anxious to see how things are now.  Another cavity free kid!
Adrian is a different story on this trip though...he had a couple cavities:(  That part is a bummer, but he had the dental assistants entertained.  When Lindsay went to take some x-rays on him he started asking her if she was going to electrocute him.  She said it was so funny.  He can be a pretty silly little guy!  He's had plenty of x-rays before so I know he was just kidding, but it was an interesting connection to make.
I love being a dental hygienist.  I love being the mother of these fantastic kids even more;)

Happy brushing and flossing!
