March 31 and April 1 marked the weekend of General Conference for our church: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. We have a few conference traditions that we have started over the years and we added a few more this time around.
In the week leading up to it I helped the older boys make conference journals. It was a fun project, but one that I had to let them do their own way and not take over...let me tell you that was hard! They were struggling to put things on straight and my OCD was trying to take over;) In the end they turned out perfect for them and what they needed.
We decided that this time around the boys were going to take notes about conference. They were to write down anything that they heard and felt like was spoken just to them and they were supposed to write down the names of any of the people from the scriptures that were talked about. As we go throughout the year they are going to help with teaching in Family Home Evening on Monday nights. When it is their turn they will have to get out their journals and find a story that was taught in conference and then teach it to us--I have high hopes for this one!
On Sunday morning we continued our tradition of eating homemade cinnamon rolls--last year I discovered a recipe that makes them like cinnabon. Dangerous! As we sat around in our living room eating cinnamon rolls and sausages listening to conference Andrew leaned over and commented to me: "Man, this sure beats conference when I was kid. We had to get up early, get dressed, and drive to the Stake Center. These kids have no idea how good they have it!"

Not to mention I also bribe them to keep them focused. Notice the buckets in the background? Each one is filled with candy goodness. When they hear the speaker say that word then they get to run over and grab a treat from the bucket. Reagan quickly figured out which one had gummy bears in it and wanted nothing to do with the others. She was so cute!
There were many fabulous talks given. I am supposed to speak in church in a few weeks on parenting and it seemed like I was getting all the information that I needed from conference!
