Memorial Day Parade

Did you know that the Rose Festival has a parade on Memorial Day?  No?  Well, don't feel bad because neither did I!  This year Andrew got the opportunity to march in the parade with some of the other Airmen from his unit.  It was actually a lot of fun to go watch a parade with the kids.  Andrew had the honor of carrying the POW flag in memory of all the men taken captive in war.  Other than the obvious experience of the parade I had a secret ulterior motive: instilling a healthy fear of Downtown Portland in my kids;)  There are a boatload of things that are wonderful about Downtown Portland--please don't think I have a real fear of it.  I am downtown all the time since that is where I work and there are definitely a lot of things that I love about it.  However, there are many things that require a lot of awareness and caution too!  I think watching a man get a ride in the CHIERS van and using the solar powered bathroom were enough to really freak them out:)
Reagan had a lot of fun in the stroller...until she realized that nobody else was in one!

The boys entertained themselves while we waited.

And I could not get a decent picture of all 4 of them at the same time, sorry Luke, but I warned you!

That's Andrew carrying the black flag--we are definitely proud to be Americans!!!

I don't know if the boys enjoyed the parade or the vehicles they got to check out more.  All in all it was an awesome day and a great way to honor those who have given their lives so that we could have the freedoms that we enjoy and take for granted everyday.  Thank you!!!
