Remember how we had berry picking on our summer bucket list? Well, we (meaning me) were so done with berries, but there was a couple from our church who told everyone they had some blackberry bushes that needed to be picked and you could come over and help yourself. Andrew was really excited about the idea...me, not so much. I had a lot of other things to do, but I realized the benefit of free berries so we went and picked a flat of berries. It took us almost an hour...mainly because a certain 12 year old was complaining the whole time. Fun. I am so not looking forward to all things teenager.
Anyways, we got our berries and headed home. Now what to do with them? We were getting ready to leave the next morning for a week at the beach only to spend 2 days at home then leave for Utah, so naturally I did what any sane person would do: I made 9 pints of blackberry jam and some blackberry preserves! Did I mention that it was really hot that day? 'Cause it was.

Mmmmm.... BERRIES!!!! Free berries, even!! :) That is fantastic. And, yeah... teenage years not that fun. I'm with ya.
