often...

Jonathan has started in on a stage I don't love. (Okay there are many things I don't love about this age.) He is constantly saying he can't do things because he will get scared. Things like going and putting his shoes away...in the middle of the day. He never wants to go anywhere in the house alone unless it is his idea to do so. I have been trying to work with him on understanding that being scared and being lonely can sometimes feel the same, but that they are different. I don't know that I am getting through.
A couple Sundays ago I found a veggie tales episode about not being scared on netflix that I turned on for him. I didn't pay too close attention to it, but it sounded like good stuff from I did listen to. When it was over he came over and sat by me and said:
"Mom, I just learned that we shouldn't be scared of things because God is often with us."
"Really? What does that mean?"
"Oh, I know. It means that when we go off then God goes with us."
"That's really cool honey. Do you want to tell Dad what you learned when he gets home?"
"No. I can't because it is a secret. Besides mom, he isn't scared of anything so he doesn't need to know about this stuff."

Oh my gosh, how cute is that? I love Jonathan (and I've never even met him!) :)
