Project Bucket List: S'mores Cones/Campfire Cake/Outdoor Party

One of the things we never get to do is celebrate birthdays with the the family in Utah so the kids and I decided to have an un-birthday party with them and eat lots of yummy treats from our bucket list;)
We tried making s'mores inside waffle cones...I think it tasted good, but those cones burn quick! Even though it's wrapped in foil you have to move it a lot. I tried to make a campfire cake. The one on pinterest was much prettier...the one a family in our ward makes every year for a scouts fundraiser is even prettier! Rachel had the brilliant idea to use the electric fondue pot to melt the hard candies down and it worked like a charm. Such a smart woman she is! Luke taught us how to make banana boats the way he learned at cub scout day camp.
The party was a huge success and the little ones were in marshmallow and chocolate heaven!

Only real fail of the night was a lesson I hope to remember: pouring hot melted candy on wax paper doesn't work. It will stick to the candy making it impossible to eat without little bits of paper in it. Boo.

That is awesome! I LOVE the un-birthday idea, and all the treats sound so good. I am totally making that campfire cake some day--I remember when you posted about it before, and I loved it. (P.S. Regarding the fail... I did a volcano cake once using the hot melted candy, and the instructions said to pour it onto foil. It worked well.) Picture of Jonathan with the bananas is cute. :)
