Aside from our obvious desire to spend time with family and friends in Utah, our decision to go when we did was more related to the open house being held for the Brigham City temple. We have a desire as a family to go to the temple often. Adrian was able to go to the temple in June for his first opportunity to do temple work for our ancestors who have passed. He was able to do the work for some of my ancestors and it was a very special moment for me as a mom to stand by and watch him do that service. The temples on this earth are our link back to our Heavenly Father and the place we can be sealed together as eternal families. When we look at our lives with this type of focus it really helps to keep it all in perspective. We know that for now our other children will only have the opportunity to visit the temples on the outside once they are dedicated so a chance to take them inside cannot be missed.
The Brigham City temple is beautiful! Brigham City is known for their peaches and the temple has peach blossoms throughout: carved in the stone outside, in the fabric, the door knobs, etc. It was a fun game of "I Spy" to have the kids look for the blossoms throughout. Our favorite room is the sealing room. On opposing walls there are large mirrors. The effect is that when you stand in front of one you can see yourself reflected forever. When a couple is married in the temple they are invited to look in the mirrors together. I love the fact that we got to stand as a family and see ourselves together forever. It is such a wonderful blessing to have temples on the earth!

FYI: if you ever go to this temple you can get the whole temple in the background if you go across the street in front of the tabernacle. Love this picture even though Reagan is running away!
