Zoo Field Trip

One of my goals this year for "preschool" with the kids was to make an effort to go on a "field trip" every month. When they started to beg for a trip to the zoo I figured it was about time since we haven't been in a while...I think May? For us that's a long lapse:) We were excited to get to bring our friend Lucy along and the kids had a blast! Grandma and Grandpa got to go along too since Grandpa actually had the day off from work. It's a good thing that Grandpa came along, too. He hasn't been to the zoo in such a long time that not only was the Africa exhibit new to him, but The Great Northwest exhibit was new to him as well. It was kind of fun to hear him talk about what he remembered from the past because it reminded me of what the zoo was like when I was a little girl and how very different it is now!
I made sure to take some pictures of the kids together so that at Jonathan and Lucy's wedding reception we can show pictures of when they were little together;)

I loved that the only way to get Jonathan to wear pants was to bargain with him and so the cape came along that day too.

There was some drama throughout the day...there was a new little tunnel by the polar bears that you could go into and look at this picture. Reagan walked in a ran out when she saw them--must have thought they were real! Jonathan decided he was upset about something and went in it to pout.

A little while later by the wild pigs Reagan got upset because the other kids walked off without her to the other side. She decided to go over and pout on the wall for a few minutes.

Lucy tried to cheer her up and she wasn't quite feeling it. Nice try though Lucy!

Grandpa was pretty impressed with the Lion exhibit.

I loved the fact that the cheetahs were not only back on display, but they were napping right next to the observation window. Such beautiful creatures and definitely one of my favorite stops.

Grandma and Grandpa know how to spoil children and they ended up getting them some pretty awesome stuffed animals. Jonathan got a "baby jaguar" and Reagan got an elephant named "rosie" that she loves! They were pretty worn out by the time we made it home and she decided that the animals needed to take a nap...which I guess means they all need to get in a laundry basket together.

Thank you mom and dad for spending a wonderful day at the zoo with us! There was almost nobody there that day and it was the best zoo trip we've had in a long time.
