Although there have been some changes here and there around me I am still lucky enough to be serving in the primary organization of my church. I get to help facilitate gospel learning working with the children age 18 mo.-12 years old by serving as the 1st counselor in the primary presidency.
Every year the church outlines a theme and lesson plans for all of the primary children in the LDS church to be learning and focusing on. This year the theme is "I am a child of God" and I love it! I was really excited to find on a blog that I follow some free printables designed for this year's theme and we ended up deciding to make the children plaques for their birthdays.

They are 5.5" square and I settled on the primary colors of red, yellow, and blue. The idea is that when the children have their birthdays then they get to go to the Bishop's office and pick out their plaque.
So far I have completed 12 of them....I don't regret the decision to make them...yet;) I think when it is warmer out then I will finish up the rest! We only have about 50 kids in our primary so it really isn't too bad. Gives me the perfect excuse to be crafty. Also, I learned something new: don't use mod podge when applying paper to wood...use wood glue! Genius. When you think about it then it makes total sense, but for now my mind is still blown. How many projects have I ended up trashing since the paper was all bubbly and dumb...well, never again! Use wood glue my friends. The answer is wood glue.
