Trash Talk

I think that knowing I was extremely behind on blogging coupled with a desire to do anything but sit at the computer and blog has finally caught up with me! There are so many things to blog about and so much that is going on that I really don't know where to start.
Be prepared for some completely out of order blog posts and randomness headed your way.

Rather than only tell you that I will do better and then desperately attempt to get as much knocked out of the way right now--I will instead leave you with a belly laugh. We all need a good one everyday!

A couple of days ago I was driving down my parent's street which has a pretty good incline. I had a few of my sisters with me and was getting ready to drop some of them off. At the end of their street (and the bottom of the hill) there was a whole cluster of neighborhood children playing on their bikes and running around like the summer time hooligans they are. About the time I noticed the home owners recycling can was laying on its side the lid popped open and a child crawled out. At first I was confused until another one climbed in and took his place! We sat in front of my parents house for a couple of minutes and we were all fascinated by the oddness of the behavior when Jonathan decided it was time to take a stand.

"Mom! Look at those kids. They are all trash!!"

At first I was a little shocked and then I couldn't stop laughing. Just about then he noticed one of his friends down there and so he amended his previous position and said:
"All of those kids are just trash, except for my friend B. What are you doing you trash kids?! Quit playing like trash!!!"

My sisters were shocked that I wasn't telling him to stop, but I just couldn't. I was laughing too hard. Picture a 4 year old in his car seat shaking his fist in the air and acting like some old curmudgeon who hates summer time because all those kids are up to no good.

As we drove away my little sister Autumn pointed out to Jonathan that they weren't actually playing in the trash. It was a recycling can after all. Jonathan only rolled his eyes and said "what should I call them then? Recycling kids?? I don't think so. They are just trash."

{I must add a note here that I honestly do not think Jonathan had any clue his term of choice "trash" has a double meaning. I really think he just looked at the situation logically and saw kids playing in what appeared to be a trash can.}

Let's just say as I recounted this story to others I laughed so hard I cried.

The End
