My dad has dreamed for years of the day that all of his children would be able to play a game of baseball together. Every summer we have a "family reunion" and there is always a central activity to go with it. This year was the year of the baseball game! Most families would be lucky to make one team and we managed to have two teams. The team captains were of course Mom and Dad. They divided everyone else up ahead of time in an effort to try and keep things fair as well as have all the couples be on opposing teams. I helped out by doing the shirts for the big game.

We played several innings with some modifications to the rules since there was such a variety of ages and skill levels all playing together. Reagan and Jonathan got to hit off the tee... they only lasted 3 innings before the lure of the nearby play structure became too powerful. We decided that we would have everyone get up every inning instead of switching at 3 outs and there was also plenty of extra pitches thrown in order to keep people from striking out. The game was all in fun, but we did keep score.
In the end the final score after 6 innings was Dad's Bombers 33-Candy's Crushers 28. I doubt this will be the last game to be played in our family and I'm looking forward to the chance to play while not pregnant. (It's rather hard to run bases while holding your baby bump and trying to make sure that no one hits you with a stray ball!)
After the game we had a yummy lunch while the big boys planned a home run derby for after lunch.
There was some light-hearted trash talking and some pretty impressive home run hitting done by this crowd.
This was such a fun day and I can't wait for another baseball tournament in the future!
