How to break into a car with dental floss and other things...

This week has been a bit eventful. Wednesday was a busy day for us full of errands, luckily all the kind that are good and fun. We ended the afternoon by meeting up with Andrew's sister's at Subway. His sister Rachel is visiting from Utah for the rest of this week and is staying with us. When it was time to go and we were going to transfer the luggage from Andrew's sister Julie's car to ours it was discovered that my niece had locked the keys in the car! They were sitting on the back seat and the window was open almost 2 inches. That was all. There was no spare key, but the people at Subway hooked us up with a long metal wire with a slight hook at one end. For fear of damaging the car Andrew said that we shouldn't try to undo the lock the way you see on T.V. no we needed to pick the keys up off the seat with the hook and try it that way. My nephew tried with all his might to get them and ended up only knocking them out of reach on the floor. Then the scouts of the group decided that a slip knot must be made by the cord from some headphones and then slipped over the manual lock to open it. They tried this unsuccessfully for about 10 minutes. I had enough, I tried it myself and determined that the cord was too thick to be of any use. I said we need something much thinner than this, something like... yes something like dental floss. As my purse was in our car Andrew's sister pulled from her purse a thing of floss (good girl :) and I proceeded to make a slip knot in the floss and then Andrew used the hook to maneuver the floss loop over the lock and once tightened I pulled up and wah-lah the door was unlocked! My nephew Skyler then proclaimed, "Wow, she is just like McGuiver. He can do anything with duct tape and she can do anything with floss!" The best thing is that my nephew is almost 13 so how in the world does he know that T.V. show? I do have to admit that I was pretty dang proud of myself for getting that lock open. I am now the only person I know to have "broken into a car" with dental floss! The only thing I kept thinking was "why don't I have my camera with me?! I am so going to blog this!"

Earlier that day was the best part of the day though. That was when we got to see baby at our 12 week appointment. Baby is right on track for growth and although I have already moved on from my regular pants to more comfortable "transitional" maternity pants, I have not gained any weight yet. I was not really surprised by this though as you have to be able to consume and keep down extra calories than needed in order to gain weight ;) Baby was sleeping so not too much movement, but it was so cool to see baby bigger than last time and actually see the heartbeat instead of just smiling and nodding when the doctor asks if I see it! I have decided that baby looks like an alien with veloceraptor arms. I have to be honest. Someday my child will grow up, read this, and then feel sad. I hope not, it is only the truth. Check out the picture and you can see the alien features in the face with the slanty eyes. A little bit creepy if you ask me, but still cute as a button!

WOW! That is so cool! I love technology! Do you get another ultrasound to find out the gender or just this one?

Aren't we lucky to be able to see our babies when they are so small! Just a miracle.
