A Quarter of a Century Passes By...

Well, I should have done this on Saturday, but it was too stinkin' hot to think about! On Saturday, August 16 I turned 25 years old and said goodbye to the past quarter of a century. I don't really feel old, but when I think about it being 1/4 of 100 it seems older :) When I think back on the past 25 years I am blown away by all that has happened. I have so many memories and so much has changed from 1983 to 2008!
Life and the world in 1983
Average cost of new houses $82,600
Average yearly income $21, 070
Average monthly rent $335.00
The first mobile phones are introduced to the public by Motorola company
The internet is created
Microsoft Word is first released
Final episode of M*A*S*H airs
Cabbage patch dolls are sold in shops and become a success (I had one!)
Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi
James Bond Octopussy released (starring non other than my Grandfather Carol McCall as the world's best gas station attendant!)
First test tube babies in America are born
Cost of a 1st class stamp $0.20
Introduction of compact discs (CDs)
"Just say no" is first used to combat drug use in America
Camcorders are introduced
Toshia Grace is born! (And the world is never the same!!)
Overall I have to say that my birthday was nice and laid back, just the way I like it. However, the 100+ degrees that the world decided to be that day was not nice! I think I came close to losing my mind, quite literally. It is embarrassing how I behaved a few times so I won't share, but my husband did tell me I was beyond hormonal and we should reconsider getting pregnant again due to my craziness :) That might sound mean of him, but he was being kind, I was really bad. Anyways, the cool rainy day we had today was a nice relief and I can feel myself coming back to "normal." (Although I did just learn that "normal" only exists as a cycle on a washing machine!)
Here is to another 25 years... where will I be then? A grandma already? Retired and living as a millionaire? (doubtful!) All I know is bring it on!

Happy Birthday! I was totally laughing at all the things that happened in 1983, I was in high school then so I totally remember all of that. Now that makes ME really old!

You should get yourself an air-conditioner for a late birthday present!! I hope you had a few shining moments despite the over-heating:)
