This was a really fun weekend. Last night I got to go to my friend Melanie's wedding. We have worked together for almost 2 years and it has been so much fun to get to know her and to witness all of the planning that went into this much anticipated wedding! I helped her out by making all her wedding announcements. The wedding was held at this place in Damascus, OR (out in the middle of nowhere...) but it was the first out-door wedding I had ever been to and it was the perfect day. The only sad part to me was the "til death do us part." It was even more interesting to me at this wedding because the preacher talked about how our wedding rings are round circles to represent the eternal love that we share with our spouses. He kept saying how their love for each other was now eternal, meaning it would be for the rest of their lives. I wanted to stand up and correct him because of how wrong that sounded--although of course I didn't...would have been completely awful and terrible of me! I wish that people could understand what eternal love really means and how it is possible for us to be together forever and eternity doesn't just mean our whole lives, but for the rest of all time. I guess in order to believe that you would have to accept post-mortal existence though. Oh well, I can keep on trying! Melanie surprised us all by showing up at the end of the isle in a horse drawn carriage and then once the ceremony was over they left that way too, at least went in a large circle since the reception was held in the same place.
Today I thought it would be fun to walk the dog over to the grade school and let Luke play on the toys there for a while. It was a lot of fun, but he kept saying the sun was too bright or it was too hot.
Here was his solution to that problem!
Luke is such a joy to have in my life. I don't know what my life would be like without him. I wish I could bottle up his energy, enthusiasm, and sweet natured moments for when he is older and I know he will turn into a raging hormonal teenage boy! For now though, we get to experience occasional moments of adolescent boy "hormonal outbursts" but I will never forget those innocent moments of holding him on my lap and reading for hours, or playing games together, making cookies and playdough, and just being together. Luke loves to say that I married his dad because he wanted me to, sometimes I wonder how much truth there is behind that statement--I love this kid!

What a sweet day for you and what a fun wedding! I know what you mean though about the eternal part - but you know that will all get worked out!
I have always thought that interesting as well; When a civil ceremony takes place and the death do us part is said but then the contradiction of the rings symbolizing eternity meaning no end, ya it doesn't seem to fit well does it?
I love hearing your stories about Luke. I sure hope someone loves Aphia as much as I do someday.
The carriage ride reminds me of my wedding day. After the temple, we had a ring ceremony and it was supposed to take place outside with the carriage ride and all. Instead...it rained!
I saw you walk in to church on Sunday...you look so cute pregnant!
Hey there! I saw you in church Sunday too, and I also thought you looked cute pregnant :) I hope you're feelin' good.
I know what you mean about the vows, they always make me want to stand up and say something, too "like wait! there's more after this!" But like your mom said, it will get worked out.
