So tired...

Jonathan has been battling a cold for the last several days and it has started to take a toll on me. I just want to sleep through the night again:) The last 3 nights he has had this gross cough that wakes him up and then makes him mad so he cries which makes him cough more and the cycle continues. I hate when he is screaming and I can't do anything to make it better! Last night it got so bad around 4 a.m. that after 20 minutes of hysterical crying (him not me, but almost) I got Andrew up and asked him to give Jonathan a blessing. Can I just say once again how grateful I am for the priesthood and for Andrew's worthiness and willingness to use it to bless our family? Within 2 minutes Jonathan was asleep and only woke up briefly at 6am to nurse and then slept until 10am! He is sleeping again right now and has been for about 2 hours. I have been quietly puttering around the house trying to get caught up on stuff while he sleeps off whatever bug has been bothering him. Hopefully this clears up--if it is still this way tomorrow morning I will make the trek into the pediatrician. (I know this is technically my first baby, but I am determined not to be that mom who calls and takes the baby in for everything. If it is just a cold like I suspect then there is not really much that can be done by the doctor.) In the mean time I am hoping for a better night tonight!
As a result of Jonathan's ever increasing curiosity with the world around him and the fact that he has been congested for the last several days he has all but quit nursing. I try and try to offer it to him, but most of the time it just makes him madder. I am only nursing about twice a day now. It is nice to have the freedom of the bottle, but it is sad to see this precious time with him disappear. Why do babies have to grow so fast?

It sounds like he could be a little croupy. Does the cough sound like a bark at all? Paden is the king of croup. We slather him with menthalatum and run a humidifier in his room. The doctor told us with croup (in the middle of the night) to run the shower very hot to get the bathroom really steamy. Then take them outside for about 10 mins. and then to blast them with steam in the bathroom. It's always worked for Paden. I hope Jonathon atarts feeling better soon.

I hate how fast they grow up! Grayson totally weaned when he had a cold. I was totally not ready. Hope you get a better night sleep.

What a sweet testiment on the power of the priesthood and the faith you have. I love the pic of him in the basket!
I hope you feel better and get some rest.
