Happy Easter!

This year's mEgga egg hunt, although cold, was a success. I am way too lazy to do Easter baskets or put on our own hunt so I take advantage of the free hunt up at the fair grounds. We started off with a visit to the "petting zoo" where the local 4-H folks bring some of their animals. They had more last year, but I was fine with the ones there this year. Jonathan was in heaven although the animals probably wanted him to leave asap (he is still learning about "being soft" so it was interesting!) Somehow we kept the boys occupied enough that they forgot about the gigantic line for free pony rides and we didn't have to wait in line for face-painting either! I think these kind of events are fun for what they are, but I have no patience for waiting in ridiculously long lines just because. Here are some fun pics of the kids with the animals.

Adrian (orange coat) and Luke (blue coat) on the hunt for eggs in the tall grass. I was off with Jonathan in another field. The boys had a blast and were only sad that they didn't get any tickets for prizes. I was relieved that we didn't get the ticket for the live bunny pet to take home! After the hunt we were ready to head back home for a much needed lunch and nap followed by the dying of the Easter eggs. ***Funny side-note: there was a woman there in a sweater dress with white knee high boots (no coat, pants, leggings, etc.), the perfect attire for an egg hunt when it is 45 degrees outside right? Also, the parking was in a big field that had a few areas that turned into a mud pit and there were several "geniuses" who got themselves stuck and proceeded to spin their tires sure they could get out that way. Gotta love this town!***
The Easter egg set up: fantastic tips from meckmom.com for keeping the mess to a minimum. I would have to give this venture 2 thumbs up. No stains and no spills!
Jonathan loved his little egg so much he wouldn't part with it. He accidentally loved it to hard though and it cracked open. This at first caused him much stress, but then he discovered all the shell pieces he could pick at. I tried to get him to eat some of the egg, but the feel was too slimy and he wasn't having it.
This year after I mixed up the dye and set up the assembly line I let the boys do it all on their own. I sat back and watched. It was a beautiful thing.

Jonathan got a balloon at the mEgga egg hunt in the morning. He loved it. Of course we had to wait around for like ten minutes so Adrian and Luke could get one too only for them to both let them go outside of our house..."accidentally" of course.

Overall, it was a very fun day despite the cold, misty rain, and mud. It was so nice to have Andrew there in the morning to help out at the hunt. Looking forward to having Easter Sunday together tomorrow. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Hey, Toshia!! I love your cute blog! The mEgga hunt looks totally fun, and I'm with you on not waiting in lines for that kind of stuff, especially when it's cold. So fun! I can't believe how big Jonathan is!
