Happy Birthday Adrian!

Wow, I cannot believe that Adrian is 10 years old! His birthday was last weekend on June 5th. (Sorry it has taken me so long to post--this past week has been ridiculous!) On Friday, June 4th he took cupcakes to school and raced with his 4th grade teacher to see who could eat theirs the fastest, he claims that he "almost" won. On Saturday he opened his gifts of legos in the morning and I made French toast and sausages with Orange Julius' for breakfast. (Andrew took pics in the morning, but I can't find where they are saved...) In the afternoon he had a couple friends come over and play. This year we are foregoing birthday parties and "big" gifts so that we can go to Disneyland and Legoland this summer! The boys are really looking forward to it:)
At 10 years old Adrian is getting too close to his teen years...next year he will be a 5th grader and then it is on to middle school! He finished up the requirements for earning his Bear in cub scouts and is now officially a Webelos. Adrian has been working really hard this year on practicing the piano and is getting pretty good, especially considering I have been teaching him for less than two years! I am so proud of how far he has come. He gave a talk in primary today on the Holy Ghost and he wrote it himself. I showed him how to use the topical guide in the bible and gave him a few prompts, but other than that he came up with it all on his own. Although he does display typical 10 year old behavior at times, I can tell that he really does have a testimony of his own about certain things. It makes me happy to know that he is getting it! We finished the Book of Mormon with him last month and have recently started over. I am impressed with how well he reads compared to when we started last time! In fact, I think Adrian would choose a book over almost anything lately...to the point it is even getting him in a little bit of "trouble" with neglecting other responsibilities. It is pretty hard to get mad at him though when he is doing something on his own that I used to have to beg him to do! I love this kid so much and I am looking forward to seeing how he continues to grow and develop. There are for sure going to be some trying times ahead in his teen years, but it will all be worth it! We love you Adrian--happy birthday!
