Our Pathetic Garden

This year we planted our garden with grand hopes of fruitful production (at least as much as last year). I had been looking forward to the sweet deliciousness of home grown cucumber--so much better than from the stores--for months. We ventured into new territory with many variations of lettuce, spinach and onion as well as the staples of tomatoes and green beans. I hauled my big old pregnant butt out there after the fabulous youth of our ward cleaned out our beds and planted the seeds. Then it started to rain a few days later and didn't stop raining for about a month! By the time the rains stopped I was too pregnant and Andrew was too busy with school to make it out there to replant. As a result we ended up with beans that tasted nasty and didn't grow right, one onion plant, one lettuce plant, and only now are our tomato plants starting to bloom. Sad, I know.

Andrew searching for any salvageable beans...good luck!

The lone onion

One of the hobo spiders that we had to kill this summer (so far I've gotten 5!) Time to call the exterminator... I h.a.t.e. spiders that are big and nasty.

First, I cannot believe that you've found FIVE hobo spiders!!!! EWWW!! I'm freaked out from here! YUCK!

Sorry your garden was a little sad. that's always disappointing. We planted our garden really late this year, and although our 5 tomato plants are doing well, that's all we ever put in! We still have unopened seed packets with all our other good intentions inside them! :)

Well, savor the onion and the lettuce. ha ha
