Momma's Big Boy!

Today was a busy day for me...but then, everyday is busy around here! I took Jonathan in for his 2 year well-child visit and he continues to do well. He is now 29 lbs. and 34.75" tall. The growth charts predict he will be around 5'11" when he is all done growing! I am still somewhat in shock over the fact that he is 2 years old already. It seems like just yesterday he was the baby:) Jonathan has definitely entered the stage of life where he is trying to assert his independence. He is a very stubborn child and knows how to get his way (or at least how he hopes to get his way!). He still uses some sign language to communicate, but he has started talking a whole lot more lately. It really seems like in the last couple of weeks that he has really started to communicate a lot better. The phrases I hear all day long are usually: "Momma, hold me" "Momma, read me" "No, momma do it!" I told Andrew the other night that I know someday I will miss the cute little way that Jonathan constantly wants me and follows after me all day long, but right now it can be difficult to get through each day with it. Jonathan pretty much never takes a nap, but he does sleep pretty well most nights. His eating habits have changed and it is much harder for me to get him to eat his veggies everyday, but I still try;) The funnest thing for me right now is teaching him his colors and his numbers. Jonathan loves to point out to me whenever there are 2 of something. He also likes to count...although his counting goes a little something like this: "1...2...4...9!" I cannot for the life of me get him to even say "three." Today at the dr's office I was feeding Reagan while he played with the toys and he would climb up on the edge of the play area and have me count to 3 and he would jump off. He had so much fun with that and we did that for about 10 minutes. He loves the color blue, so even though he knows that not all the colors are blue, be calls everything blue. My favorite book to read him right now is "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, what do you see?" On every page when I say "what do you..." he yells out "see" (but he has a lisp so it sounds more like "thee," too cute!) and then when I say "I see a _____ looking at..." he yells out "me!" I think this can be such a fun age even if he can try my patience like no other. For his birthday we got him a Toy Story tricycle which he calls his "moto-cyc." I guess he thinks it is a motorcycle? He has such an active imagination and I love that he can play with almost anything. Tonight he ran around the house with his fist in the air yelling "Superman." He loves Star Wars and his favorite character right now is "RD2" He also really likes Han and Obi Wan. He is truly his father's son. The best part of life with Jonathan now is that he is potty-trained! It has been a long road, but we have finally reached the stage of having multiple days in a row with no accidents. Most of the time his "accidents" are more because he can't really get up on the toilet by himself so if I am not quick enough when he calls for me then he doesn't quite make it in time!
After his appointment today we had to come home and get ready for the Scentsy party I was having tonight and I let Jonathan "help" me with the dessert. I made a delicious fruit pizza that has a sugar cookie crust. Here is a picture of Jonathan "helping."
"Momma I lick it...give me!"

And here he is on the "moto-cyc." He loves the bin on the back so he can bring his trusted dog along for the ride (as well as a bunch of other stuff!)
I love this little guy so much and I am so honored and humbled to be his mother. God gives us this chance and despite all the challenges it is so worth it! I love you Jonathan!!!!

That was so sweet. Yes, this is the hardest part (at least for me)--it was just exhausting. But all those sweet and fun moments (like teaching them!! -I loved that) help you get through. A huge congrats on him being potty trained. Considering the "stubbornness" you mentioned (I had one like that), I bet if you hadn't done it already, then he would really not even give you a chance for another year. So that is really impressive. He is such a cutie! :)

A 3 1/2 year old boy doesn't seem any better. Actually, I feel like Porter has gotten more difficult since he was 2. It keeps getting more fun, yet more challenging. Anyway, happy birthday to Jonathan!! Too bad I wasn't able to be there this year, but at least I was there the last 2 years :)

What a fun and frustating stage all in one. I remember Skyler at that age and it wore me out. Jonathan is lucky to have a wonderful mom like you! What a cute kid. Thanks for sharing your typical day with Jonathan.
