Last night I went to a bridal shower for a sweet girl I have the privilege to know. She is getting married next week and so it was time to celebrate. I made her a sign that says "Always remember to kiss me goodnight" and then my mom and I got her some Goblets with a bottle of sparkly and a copy of The tradition of the Goblets. By popular demand I have posted it here to share with all. Back in the day I was given this as part of gift and I think it is pretty cute. This whole thing turned out so well that it may just become my standard wedding gift! Feel free to borrow the idea and also, feel free to join this "exclusive" society. Maybe a good idea for a valentine's gift? Enjoy!
TRADITION
OF THE
GOBLETS
Welcome to the exclusive and honored society of those who keep alive the tradition of the goblet. This tradition will help your marriage remain one of love, joy and happiness.
The rules are simple and, if followed, they will allow your love to continue to grow by bringing communication into your marriage.
Whenever you need special time with your spouse,
Whenever you need to talk to your spouse about…
Whenever you need….with your spouse,
SIMPLY SET THE GOBLETS OUT!
The rules are:
I. That if either of you sets the goblets out, then everything else is canceled! You hire a sitter, give away the theater tickets, turn off the phone, etc. There is nothing that is more important at that particular time, than your spouse’s needs. The time is for the two of you to be alone, to focus on one another without interruptions.
II. It is to be a time of love and sharing. This is your time to renew your romance. There doesn’t always have to be a problem.
III. If there are problems, they are to be resolved through an honest effort to understand the other’s point of view, not in defending your own. Be sure to attack the problem and not each other. There is no fault, just a problem to be discussed and solved!
NO FIGHTING AND NO POINTING FINGERS ALLOWED!
IV. Remember above all that you LOVE this person and they LOVE you. This shared love makes the two of you stronger than any problem.
If you are true to the tradition, then you will be rewarded with many unique and special memories, and a strong loving relationship. Welcome to the society of the goblet!
