This is a 2.5 year old who desperately needs to be taking naps and refuses to do so. Sleeping at the dinner table is not cutting it! I have tried (unsuccessfully) to get him to take naps. He tells me he is tired, but refuses to sleep. And I quote "momma, I tired. I not take nap!" I have however, convinced him that he has to have an hour of quiet/reading time in his room on his bed after lunch. It happens most days, but no matter the amount of yawning or seeming exhaustion he will not fall asleep. The exceptions would be driving in the car and going to Grandma's house.
Case in point: in getting ready to go to Grandma's house for Sunday dinner he says "yay! I love Grandma's house. I can sleep there and you can watch me!" Why is it that he "can't" sleep here? Ugh, please take a nap!

What a funny statement (at the end)! Non-nappers have such a hard life! :( They would be happier if they napped! I used to drive my oldest around in the car for hours to try to get him to fall asleep. I found *I* needed his nap as much or more than he did!
Ha ha, kids are too funny. If only they realized the wonderfulness of napping. He may not now (which totally sucks) but someday he will and then he will apologize for giving you a hard time about taking naps...ok, maybe not. Good luck!
