Easter Egg Hunt

Easter weekend we headed over to the annual mEGGa hunt at the county fair grounds. It was a beautiful day and the sun was shining. It was actually a little bit warm! I felt a little silly for wearing rain boots and making everyone else boot it up, too. Last year it was a giant mud pit and I didn't want to take any chances. Adrian and Luke were gone so they weren't able to participate in the hunt, but Jonathan is finally old enough to really hunt for eggs so he got right in on the action. It was hard to hold him back until the horn blew, but he made it.
At first Jonathan was picking up the eggs fairly quickly, he did have to tell me each color before it went in the bucket. Then he reached some taller grass and a damp blade of grass stuck to his hand. He tried to shake it off and when it wouldn't budge he looked up at me and said "ok, I am done now momma." Wait, what?! There were still a ton of eggs in front of him, but this kid cannot stand to have wet things on his hands. Last year at the hunt he wouldn't pick up any of the eggs after the first one was wet. I guess he at least made progress since he ended up with a dozen eggs this year. It was so warm out that the chocolate inside was even a little bit melted. Than never happens for Easter!
Reagan just hung out in the back pack carrier and was content to watch from her vantage point. After the hunting concluded we met up with my parents and a few of my siblings that were there hunting eggs as well. Reagan and Jonathan love their grandparents so it was a blast getting to watch them interact with each other. Paige was able to spend the weekend with my parents and siblings at home so she made it out to the hunt.

Very, very cute. My oldest never liked getting his hands messy or dirty in any way (finger painting was OUT), so I get that! What a fun egg hunt!
