The Sixth Dayt of Christmas

On the sixth dayt of Christmas I think you'll ooh and ahh, with a 60-minute massage at the spa!

Failed.

Just trying to keep it real folks. Sometimes the best of intentions are only that....intentions.

Andrew has a crazy schedule now that he has started his internship rotations. To really spice things up he is even trying to work on his "off" days. I love this man so much! I can't believe how hard he works for us every single day. I have looked forward to our dayts every month and June was one that I was especially excited about because I knew it would be a time to relax and take it easy. Well, we had a crazy start to the month and then when we tried to find a time that we could schedule our massages for there was only one day possible: June 30th. At least we could fit it in before the "end" of the month, right?! So we scheduled it and looked forward to it.
Unfortunately, things did not go as planned. Andrew ended up having to stay at school late to help with an exam for a different department and was unable to make it back in time to go to our scheduled appointment. I felt awful that we had scheduled and would have to cancel so I totally decided to still get mine....I still feel guilty;) So guilty that I tried to give Andrew a massage to make up for it. I really am not very good at it though.....don't really have the patience for it!

I guess you could say that more than anything, I learned a lesson for June's dayt. Intentions are not enough. The relationship that I have with my husband is priority #1 and we shouldn't have let anything get in the way of our original plans at the beginning of the month. Time alone with hubby isn't going to present itself at this stage in our lives. There will always be sick kids, appointments for someone, things to clean, noses to wipe, diapers to change.....at least for the next however long! And just like I will never be able to get back those precious moments with my sweet little babies as they quickly grow, I will never be able to get back the precious moments that only a husband and wife can share that have the potential to make their marriage stronger and healthier. June's failed dayt did turn into a time where we communicated with each other about our crazy busy lives and realized how precious our limited time with each other really is. Thank you Andrew for always being there when I really need you to be. I am so lucky to have you for a husband and best friend! Hopefully I will never forget this lesson...... I love you!

Well, it really sounds to me like it DIDN'T fail! A great idea for another time, but even greater that you spent time together appreciating each other.

Ahhh, so sweet you were able to turn a sad situation into a moment to reflect. You are so good for each other!! BTW...I bought Mark a 1 hour massage coupon for Christmas and he just barely used it last week! Good thing though because he has helped a brother a sister and a neighbor move so far this year. He needed the massage by now!
