Suds and Spuds

One of our favorite things every year is the annual Suds and Spuds dinner that Adrian's scout troop hosts.  They accept donations for the dinner and then there is an auction after we eat.  At least a month before Adrian started telling me all of the things that "we" were going to make and do for the auction.  I heard "me" when he said "we" and I was determined that it was not going to be me that did everything;)  My new addiction of pinterest held the answers for Adrian's desire to have some pretty cool stuff.
First up were the witches hats cookies:
These cookies were done by using shortbread cookies upside down and he took a hershey's kiss dipped in a bit of chocolate frosting to make it look like a witch hat.  Super easy and they were a hit!

Next up was a kit-kat and candy corn cake.  I made the chocolate cake (from a box of course) while Adrian was at school and then at his request I frosted it.  Then he had the fun of putting kit-kats all around it and filling it in with Indian corn.  I tied a ribbon around the kit-kats to hold it all together and I think it turned out awesome if I do say so myself.  It was a big hit and the teenage boys were in a bidding war over it;)  Adrian was elated over how well his desserts did.  I was just glad they went for more than the cost of making them!

I also donated a stocking hanger that I had left over from a bazaar I had done a while back.  I can laugh about it now, but at the time I was pretty ticked...here's the story:  There was a reasonable bidding war going on that was winding down and then out of no where you hear someone call out "$30!" and the auctioneer say "sold!"  Too bad the person who made the bid was none other than my dear sweet husband. I was really irritated at the time that he did it, but in the end he worked it out with one of the other bidders so we didn't go home with it.  He says he was just trying to get them to bid higher, guess he didn't quite do what he intended to on that one!

We were able to come home with our favorite dessert that a family in our ward brings every year.  It is delicious and this year was no exception!

The campfire is made up of melted butterscotch and cinnamon red hot candies.  It is awesome and so much fun to eat!

Oooh, how fun!!! I love the treats you made! So beautiful! That campfire cake is REALLY cool, too. I'm going to have to remember these!

I'm SO glad you like the framed print I sent, and I'm relieved it got there okay. I wanted to wrap it in an additional layer of bubble wrap, but the fit inside that envelope was so tight I didn't think I could. Anyway, I'm glad it went to a good home and will be loved. :) YAY!
