Anyone who knows me knows that I love a good before and after project. I see these things done all the time that I think, hmmm I wonder how they did that? or I could do that! Then I spend a lot of time looking around my house for things that could use a little help (in some cases a lot of help!). One such eye-sore that I have been noticing a lot was my sewing box. I got this box when I was around 12 from my parents for Christmas. It was pretty awesome in it's time, but the floral print from the early 90's was getting on my nerves. I spent a lot of time thinking about how awesome it would be if I just recovered it. One day I stopped thinking and just did it. There were several moments during the process where I wanted to pull all of my hair out and scream. For instance: when I realized that the frame of this bad boy is held together by cruddy slivers of wood and thin cardboard:( At one point I thought I had destroyed the box and would never get it back together again. But, have no fear! I have a glue gun and a staple gun and I know how to use them!
I turned to my fabric box and used some leftover fabric from some other projects that I had done. When I was finished recovering and stapling i decided it needed a little something so I added some ribbon around the bottom and I made a little fabric yo-yo for the top. I also added a little experimental element of fun: I glued a magnet strip to the inside of the lid to keep all my random needles separate from the pins. So far my opinion about that magnet is about 50/50.

My husband so cleverly stated "that looks really nice. But, you 'updated' it with a paisley print from the 70s." Oh hubby, paisley has been back for a while now. I think I should be just fine;) Also, I don't really care if it is "in" so much as if it is my style--and now it is. Love it!
