This year I got to make an adorable Christmas advent box at a Fabulous Friday activity that was hosted by my mother's ward at church. This is a picture of one that is similar. The awesome lady who was teaching this craft had researched and printed up a ton of activity options for the advent box and I got to choose 24 of them for my family to do this year. The best part is that on the back of each card I am going to put a picture of us doing that activity and then I have officially "scrapbooked" our Christmas this year! We have had a lot of fun so far and I thought I would share some of the fun.
(And yes, I do realize that I am actually blogging about December and it is still December. Shocking!)
Day 1: Make a Paper Chain.
I found a cute idea on pinterest of making the paper links into a tree instead of just linking them into a chain. I love how it turned out! The boys had a lot of fun with the paper cutter and stapler!
Day 2: Write a letter to Santa.
(Dear Santa, I know you're busy, but I would like it very much if I could have a new baby doll for Christmas. Love, Reagan)
Of course I had to help interpret Reagan's sounds and signs for this one;)
(Dear "Santa," For Christmas I would like: nerf pistol, water gun, nerf machine gun, Lego Indiana Jones 2 Wii, Lego Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars legos, nerf bassooka, Indiana Jones Legos, scooter (e. spark), new headphones for mp3, Ninjago Fire Dragon with Fire Temple, Spy Gear toys. Please get me as many of these things as you can. From, Adrian)
I personally love the fact that Adrian put quotes around Santa. He says he knows all about "Santa," but understands that he has to believe in order to receive!
(Dear Santa, I want two toy birds and one tree for the two toy birds. Maybe a space station too. And a hat like dad, I want lego nijago and star wars--the one with the Millineum Falcon and the death Star. I want Indiana Jones lego game like Adrian and Noah. Thank you dear Santa, Jonathan)
This has to be one of the cutest Santa letters! Jonathan dictated it to me as I wrote. I think the toy birds are referring to angry birds? Grandma has an Ipad now and Jonathan gets to play when he's being good;)
Proudly displaying their letters for Santa!
Day 3: Watch a Christmas movie with popcorn.
We decided that since our dayt this month ended up being free for us that we would use the $ we had set aside to get pizza and buy a new Christmas movie. It was a lot of fun to pick out the new movie and we ended up getting a few of them;) We watched Jim Carey's version of A Christmas Carol which none of us had seen yet. Such a fun night!
Day 4: Look at pictures of Christmas past.
We also watched movies that we had of year's past Christmases that we had on the computer. It was funny to see the kids younger compared to now.
Day 5: Have a Christmas cookie party.
We had our good friends, the Durants, come over for Family Home Evening and we had a "cookie" party. They brought some cookies to share and I made home made oreos. The kids got to make m&m pretzels. It was a lot of fun and the kids were in heaven eating all those treats, drinking hot cocoa, and having some egg nog (or egg not, as Jonathan calls it).
Stay tuned for more Christmas fun!
