There are probably a million cuter things we could have done to make these ornaments, but I was determined to get the ornaments made using only things that we already had on hand and this is what we came up with. The stars and letters are made of chipboard and mounted onto a circle of poster board. The kids wanted some sparkle so we added a jewel. We decided to have them each put the same number of jewels as they are old so they would remember how old they were when they made them.
Day 7: Get lights up outside.
I have honestly never put lights up outside. My dad always did, but I never have. Andrew always talks about it, but we just haven't ever done it. Not sure why. This year I decided it was high time. In the end it was whatever I could do with the help of the kids. So two strings of lights later and this is what we came up with. A little ghetto I know, but whatever:)
Day 8: Bake and decorate cookies.
I wasn't really in the mood for sugar cookies, so "we" decided to make these smore's cookies instead. The kids had a hand or two involved. They are peanut butter cookies with melted chocolate and marshmallow creme spread on them. It is one of my favorite sandwich cookies to make and perfect for this time of year.
Day 9: Take a baked gift to a neighbor.
I had these fun snowman tins that I got on clearance a few years ago and hadn't used yet. It was so much fun to fill them up with some smore's cookies and a few other goodies. We didn't end up getting them all delivered on this day since Jonathan got sick and I had to go to the store for meds instead. They all got delivered within a couple of days though;)
Day 10: Go watch the Christmas boats.
We have lived here for 4 Christmas seasons now and have never been down to the river to watch the Christmas boats before. Although it was freezing cold, it was a lot of fun. We even made it just in time to watch the tree lighting ceremony. (It was kind of a pathetic tree, but it was fun to count down!) After watching the boats we headed over to the church for our ward Christmas party and some treats. Such a fun night!

How totally fun!!! I love your ornaments, and I would never have guessed they were made with only stuff you already had (I do that sometimes, too) because they are gorgeous!! We only did Christmas ships once in 11 years of living there, but it was really cool!! All great stuff! :)
