Project Bucket List: Marshmallow Shooters

Last week I had my little sisters come over and the kids all made their own marshmallow shooters.  They had a lot of fun shooting them in the yard.  Adrian was a little concerned with all of the ants he thought they were feeding so he made sure that they picked them all up...right?!  Good news is that there really weren't that many left in the grass.  I suspect that a certain little miss may have helped out with the marshmallow removal process and they ended up in her belly.

The weather was perfect for it and the kids were so excited to have one more thing knocked off the list!
This was the day that we also went to the library for the kids to sign up for the summer reading program.  I am really annoyed with the program though.  I've always felt that 16 hours is a lot of time for the little kids to be expected to read/get read too, but we do it.  Now I am learning that the teen reading program (which even has different papers/prizes) is also for 16 hours.  The children's librarian, Nate, asked us if we had any questions about the program and I said "No.  But, you really should make the teenagers read more than 16 hours."  He then went on and on about how there are some really reluctant readers in that age group so if they required more hours then those teens wouldn't finish the program.
Here's me not caring.  2 things: #1 if 16 hours is all that teens can handle then why are the little kids expected to read the same amount?  and #2 too bad for them if they don't finish.  If they really care about the prizes or the program then they will do the reading.  Everyone doesn't have to be a winner in everything that they do.  C'mon people!  It's all based on the parents signature anyways so what's to stop those "reluctant" readers from lying?  I don't advocate lying, but really we all know that there are those out there who do.
Right before the library we went to the park where Jonathan ended up getting punched in the nose by some little punk kid who couldn't have been more than 5.  That boys mom was no where to be found.  Jonathan says he never wants to go to that park again if there are other kids there.  Not cool.  Maybe my thoughts about the library are little tainted by my experience at the park?  No.  I'm pretty sure my thoughts about the reading program are right on;)

Yeah, I don't think many teenagers are after the prizes anyway. Weird. Bummer about the mean boy, but I love the marshmallow shooters!! FUN!
