Summer 2012: Bucket List!

I have seen a ton of ideas out there lately for a summer bucket list.  Or at least ways to maximize your summer fun potential.  I've thought about this sort of thing a lot the last couple of years, but never acted on it.  Well, there is no time like the present and I am ready to act!
A couple of weeks ago I sat down with the kids and we made our list of things to do before the end of the summer.  There are a ton of other things that we do during the summer (like the summer reading program) that we didn't put on the list simply because we are going to do them anyways.  Our list has all kinds of things on it: food to try, parties to have, activities, crafts, trips, you name it!  I was pretty pleased with the outcome and aside from one suggestion that we go to Hawaii (which is not going to happen) all of them were things that we could totally do.  As we do them I hope to document with pictures and blog about our summer journey.  We have a bucket (I'll get it put together asap) and the list so we are half-way there!
Here is our ambitious list of things to do/try this summer:
*Hiking*
*Prescott Beach*
*Fishing*
*Go to Utah*
*Swimming*
*Camping*
*Ice rocks*
*Outdoor Party*
*Dutch oven cooking*
*Backyard Camping*
*Root Beer floats/Yoda Sodas*
*Concert at the park*
*Bug Hunt*
*Backyard alphabet hunt*
*Finger knitting*
*PVC sprinkler*
*Science experiments*
*Bubble pool*
*Backyard chalkboard*
*Lego day*
*Camping party*
*Longview water park*
*Scappoose water park*
*Key lime cheesecake bars*
*Campfire cake*
*Strawberry julius*
*Campfire cones*

I am labeling juice lids with each of these things that we'll stick to the bucket with a magnet so we know which one we are doing.  I even color coded them (of course I did!)  The categories are: day trips, vacations, requires planning, food, and anytime.  1st up (by demand of Jonathan) is the dig for dinosaurs!!!!

P.S.  So excited that school is out for the summer!  Now we're just waiting for sunshine:)

Sounds like you're going to have a fun summer!! Normally reading your blog instigates a sort of motivation for me. And although your ideas are way cool, I can't say I am motivated to make a campfire cake or go berry picking with a group of teenage boys. I will copy and keep this list handy for Brielle in a few years! BTW, I did have the boys all signup 4 the library reading program! That one i can do;)
