Well, I almost did it. I almost made it through the cub scout years of Adrian and Luke not having to go help at day camp. Now, don't get me wrong it's not that I was intentionally avoiding it--I just never had that chance with being pregnant/nursing/working/sane--you know important stuff like that! This year was different though. There were only a few boys from our pack going and not enough other parents/scout leaders to go everyday. On the first day Andrew got to take the boys and on the second day it was my turn. Jonathan went each of the days as well to hang out in the tot lot--he loved it. He thought that he was really a cub scout those couple of days;) Luke had a blast and made a new friend that recently joined the pack. It was so interesting watching Luke interact with the other boys as one of the oldest ones there. He turns 11 in September and then it will be on to Boy Scouts.
I am so thankful that my boys enjoy scouting and that there are people out there who are so willing to plan and put on such awesome activities. This year they had a medieval theme and Luke was part of the "Dragons" group. By the end of the week he had made a cross bow, a catapult, ink, "reed" pipes, and so much more! Next year he is off to 11 year old scout camp and the much anticipated overnight-er. Jonathan will be so disappointed when he realizes that he isn't really in scouts yet and therefore will not be going to day camp next year...
