Project Bucket List: Hiking

One of the days we were at the coast we decided to go for a hike up a trail off of Three Rocks Rd.  Jonathan really wanted to go, but I told him that it was a really long ways and he couldn't go if we had to carry him.  He insisted that he was going to walk every step so I decided to give it a try.  Reagan stayed back at the beach house with Grandma.  The hiking crew consisted of: Papa John, Grandpa, Toshia, Adrian, Jonathan, Chad, Taylor, Hayden, and Autumn.

Jonathan was such a trooper and kept up his spirits even though he was obviously getting tired.  We stopped for a break at the top and enjoyed the view from above:

I love the way Jonathan's attitude comes through in this picture.  He walked every single step of that 4 mile hike (okay, Grandpa did pick him up and carry him down about 12 steps, but Jonathan was ticked about it! He said "Grandpa, don't do that again! I will walk by myself.  You can hold my hand if you want, but don't pick me up again!"  It was pretty hilarious to hear him get so upset about being carried.  At one point there was a lot of dry dirt we were walking on and Jonathan was really kicking up the dust.  I asked him to stop and he said "oh mom, I'm just trying to make my shoes be brown now."
On our way back to the car all of the sudden Autumn dropped to the ground and started doing push-ups.  She said that she just needed to show us that she was so strong that she was able to do a bunch of push-ups after hiking all that way.  I didn't have the heart to tell her that her arms were not the tired part of her body so it didn't really count;)  Thank you for taking us on the trail Grandpa--we love you!
