Jonathan's First Talk

Last month Jonathan got the chance to give his very first talk in primary at church! He was so excited to bring home the card that told him about his assignment. I told him that he had to help write his talk. I definitely had to guide him, but I thought it was pretty awesome what he came up with.
There is a book of art that I have with pictures of Christ's visit to the ancient Americas. Jonathan likes to look at the pictures so I showed him some of the pictures and asked him what he thought about Jesus and choosing the right. Then I tried to get him to tell me his testimony. He was so cute!

I choose the right when I try to be like Jesus.
Jesus loves everyone--even little children. I can love everyone too.
When I choose the right it makes Jesus happy.
I wish I was one of the kids who got to see Jesus and angels.
Dear Jesus, I love my house, my legos, my mom and dad, my brothers, my sister, my grandma and grandpa, my teacher and all my friends. I will choose the right and be like you!

Sometimes I can't believe that I am so lucky that I get to have this kid for my son. I know he is a complete stinker and a half most of the time, but then there are moments of pure innocence and love. I hope he always has such a sweet and teachable heart!

Before you start thinking he is perfect, here's the rest of the story. During sacrament meeting that Sunday he was on a roll. I gave him a piece of paper and told him to draw a picture so he would calm down. He drew the best picture ever. He told me that it was an evil scorpion (on the left) and a good one (on the right). They were fighting all the time and the big bird in the middle was trying to destroy them both. He then informed me this was all about what his new talk would be. I whispered to him that he already had a talk about choosing the right. He looked totally offended and said "No. That was my old one. Ugh, fine. I will give that one first and then I will give this one since it's better." I smiled and desperately tried to figure out what to do. Who knows what kind of story he would try to tell about the picture (or how long it would take!)

In the end he forgot all about the picture when it was time to give his talk. I think he was a little bit too nervous to remember; however, when church was over he remembered and was really upset about not giving his bestest talk ever. The compromise was giving it to his family at home. He seemed satisfied with that and the second "talk" was completely random and randomly complete. We love you Jonathan!
