The Snow Chronicles

Monday, December 15: Adrian wakes up sick:( He got the cold that was going around my parents house. So, much to his dismay I made him stay inside today with promises that the snow was not going anywhere! We rarely have the TV on since we don't have cable and we try to limit how many movies we watch also. Mostly this is because Adrian was raised in front of a television and we are trying to break that (so far it has worked great!). In this week so far he has probably watched more movies than I have let him watch since he came to live with us last March! We have also played a lot of Wii games this week too.

Sick on the couch...

Tuesday, December 16: School starts 2 hours late, but I decided that since Adrian was still a little sick that I would keep him home. I figured parents might not like their kids getting sick just before Christmas;) Another day of movies and Wii games. Adrian probably thinks this is what I usually do all day while he is at school lol! I wish--not really though. I have kept myself busy with getting all the presents wrapped, laundry, dishes, cooking, cleaning/organizing my "office" space, putting away all of Jonathan's 0-3 mo. clothes and replacing with 3-6mo., scrapbooking, getting Christmas cards sent out, sending out the last of the baby announcements, finishing up thank you cards I needed to write, and all the while taking care of my sweet little baby, a sick 8 year old, and a cooped up dog. So, I guess you could say I have managed to stay busy despite being stuck at home!

One way to keep a dog entertained

Wednesday, December 17: Schools canceled today! Another day at home--I am really wondering what I am going to do to keep Adrian entertained during winter break... I got some pictures of Jonathan today wearing the pajamas that all 3 of my brothers wore. It was bittersweet since they barely snapped! My sister Chelsea stopped by Tuesday night and saw him wearing them and was surprised that my mom had saved them all these years. We remembered helping to dress our little brothers in those pjs and now we can take turns dressing our sons in them. I wish I had pictures of my brothers wearing them too!

Thursday, December 18: School canceled again today! I guess the kids will unfortunately have winter break for 3 weeks instead of 2. What they don't seem to realize is that they will probably have to make it up at the end of the year and sacrifice a week of summer! I'd rather have a week of sun to play in than be freezing cold, but that is just me:) The snow came down so hard last night that Andrew and Adrian made another snowman in the front yard, but this time it was bigger! Unfortunately, we awoke this morning to a headless man. Apparently the neighbor girl wanted to help them last night and she made the head. Andrew said that it wasn't quite round and not packed really well, but he didn't want to hurt her feelings. It didn't work out well though! Since it is supposed to start to melt today and then freeze tonight I doubt there will be school tomorrow...I am running out of ideas here! Luckily tomorrow is Andrew's day off and so he can do some entertaining as well. Bring on the snow!
As a side-note I am really looking forward to Bunco tonight. Andrew made me realize last night that I haven't left the house since Saturday except for one venture out back yesterday that resulted in me slipping and landing on my hip/butt and turning around and going right back inside! I need to get out of this house! Stop closing and canceling everything people! :)
