Thank you weather man!

I think every child has a desire for snow...at least children that live places where it rarely snows! I can remember praying that it would snow everynight as a child starting in like November. I don't know if it was the hope that school would be canceled or what, but waking up to snow was a big deal. All week long Adrian has been telling me that it was supposed to snow and wouldn't it be awesome if the snow came early? He kept telling me that it had to snow otherwise it wasn't really Christmas time:) Once the reports came in he was ready Friday night for it to start snowing...and it didn't. Luke was here this weekend so both of them were convinced that they were going to wake up to snow on Saturday...and they didn't. Last night they went to bed thinking that the reports were false and that snow was not likely to come. At 6am this morning I woke up to this conversation I heard going on:

Luke: Hey Adrian, are you awake yet? Wake up, let's play.

Adrian: okay, but I need to go to the bathroom first...hey! It is snowing! Look outside my window--it's snowing!

Luke: THANK YOU WEATHERMAN!!!! We need to get changed right now and go outside and start playing...we can build snowmen and have a snowball fight...

--At this point I got up and went in their room to break the sad news to them that it was too early to go outside and play yet and there was not enough snow to do anything with at this point anyways. Heartbroken the boys altered their plans and played with some GI Joes instead, all the while looking longingly out the window and then back at me with pleading eyes. Finally at 10ish I pulled out the snow clothes and helpped them get all geared up for outdoor fun. Yes, we let them break the sabbath...how often do they get the chance to play in snow though? Then we got the call that church was canceled due to the weather and the boys couldn't have been happier to have more time to play together. Now they have played outside for hours and Andrew is on the road taking Luke back to his mom's house--it's a good thing Andrew had the snow tires put on yesterday!

Yeah, I think the weatherman is a pretty popular guy with the kids right now.

Yep, warm sunny days that lead us to the pool and snowy winter days that cancel school make the weather man pretty popular in our house, too :)
