Dog Frustrations.

Okay, I know that a year ago I was all ga-ga over my dog. I was in puppy-love for reals and was so happy to have him--even when he destroyed things! I have since gotten over my initial adoration and it has turned into a serious source of stress for my already stressful life. I came to the conclusion that it would be best for everyone's sanity (mainly mine) if he found a new home. He is just too much to handle with the baby and everything else. So I put an ad on Craigslist a little over a week ago and had several responses. Some people didn't return phone calls or had gone with another dog already, but there were 2 very promising possibilities. One was a family in PDX and the other some people that train dogs to be drug sniffers. The mom came to meet him on Wednesday and fell in love, but was worried about how her little girls would do with a high energy puppy so she wanted to think about it. On Thursday the drug-sniffing trainers came to "test" him and he failed. Apparently he has no desire to chase a ball anywhere other than our house so he wasn't "ball-crazy" enough. Andrew thinks he is sabotaging our desire to get him a new home...I don't think he is that smart! Well, the mom decided that she would like to see how Reese was with her girls so I agreed to let her do a "trial-run" this weekend. I am so frustrated right now because she came and picked him up with her girls and then 15 minutes after they left she called me to say that her 5 year old was freaking out and so she was going to need to bring him back. She seemed really frustrated with her daughter and kept apologizing to me. I was cool with it, but still! What am I to do with this twice rejected dog? I guess for now it is time to go back through the email responses we got from craigslist and hope to find a better match for Reese.

Good luck on finding a new home for Reese! It will happen. I'm still working on getting Jeff to let me find a new home for Happy - someday, hopefully.
