In June I woke up one day and decided that we were going to go on a "hike." I knew of a decent little nature trail near our house so I decided to take the kids and go for it. I wanted to surprise them so I wouldn't tell them where we were going. In order to throw them completely off I told them they had to have a hat on and it had to be a creative one, not just a baseball cap. They were running around the house trying to decide what to wear and why in the world I would tell them to do something like that. It was so much fun! In the end Adrian and Luke decided to wear their shark hats and then Jonathan was the pirate. I loved that they came up with a them of sorts as well! I just love my kids;)
There were plenty of frogs, slugs, and bugs that we saw and a pretty overgrown trail to follow. At one point the boys wanted to climb up the rocks rather than take the long switchback trail and I complied. A little ways after that there was a little stretch of the trail that was pretty steep for about 6 feet. Jonathan cracked me up. About half way up he said to me "mommy, are we going to die now?" From watching his older brothers play video games he thinks that falling is dying. I assured him that we were going to be just fine and he happily trudged along.
I had so much fun with my kids. It was nice to just be silly and goof off for a couple of hours. Loved it!
