Happy 3rd Birthday Jonathan!!!

I know it's hard to believe, but my little baby has turned 3 years old!  Every time we would ask him what he wanted for his birthday he would jump around and say "I want a guitar and sponge bob legos and star wars legos!"  It was a lot of fun to get ready for Jonathan's birthday this year.  It is the first time that he has really been aware of what a birthday is.  However, he has no sense of time so it was really hard to get him to understand how much longer until his birthday.  Jonathan has known that his birthday is "Ah-tober firtieth" for a long time, but when you don't know the months and calendaring that is a pretty abstract thing.  Our family has a birthday in June, two in July, mine in August, one in September and then finally Jonathan in October.  Every time it was someone else's birthday he would get really upset and ask when it was going to be his birthday.  A few weeks before his birthday I made a paper chain with him to count down the days until his birthday.  Every night he got to rip off a chain and then count the remaining links.  It was so much fun!  The night before his birthday felt a little bit like Christmas;)
The morning of Jonathan's birthday he got to open his presents in bed.  We got him some sponge bob legos, a reverence book (Monday I was a Monkey) with a stuffed monkey, The Padawan Menace movie, and a lego carrying case.  (Opening presents was observed with video so no pictures...sorry!)  Then we had an October birthday celebration at my parent's house (I have 5 siblings with October birthdays) and Jonathan made out like a bandit!
Mega Blocks City from Aunt Chelsea.

His guitar from Aunt Ashleigh that is an electric dog!

Uncle Seth got him a pumpkin kickball.

Aunt Chloe got him a lego sorter that is shaped like a lego head.

Grandma and Grandpa got him some Sponge Bob legos and a Star Wars Lego Character Encyclopedia.  The Encyclopedia came with a Han Solo Lego guy and his Padawan Menace movie came with a young Han Solo.  Jonathan believes that he is Han Solo (hence the Halloween costume he insisted on wearing....)  The book is totally dog-eared now and has a couple of rips that I've taped up simply because he loves to sit and "read" it or lay in bed and come up with his own story lines for all the characters.

I attempted to make a lego cake.  I sort of started to cut it before I remembered to get a picture of it.  The circles on top are ding dongs.  My cakes usually taste really good, but they don't always look the way I want them too;)

Happy Birthday Jonathan!!!!
